A bold project – a photo of tattooed people

A long time ago, a stereotype was formed in society that tattoos are the lot of criminals and other asocial personalities. Over the past decades, the attitude towards people whose bodies are adorned with various drawings has become more loyal, however, facial patterns can still shock the average layman. British photographer Mark Leaver undertook to prove the injustice of such prejudices, in whose work people with tattoos on their faces became the heroes of a bold photo project.

With his work, Mark Leaver wanted to prove that not renegades and outcasts of society are hiding behind an unusual appearance, but completely normal people. To do this, he photographed them in an ordinary household environment: at work or at home; spending time with loved ones or playing with their pets.

According to the photographer, the reasons why people get tattoos on their faces can be different. Someone does this in protest against the system, while others just want to radically change their appearance and emphasize their own individuality..

Mark admits that at the beginning of his work, he himself was somewhat wary of those whose faces are decorated with tattoos. However, having got to know each other better, I realized that there is nothing extreme or out of the ordinary in the beliefs of these people..

In total, more than 30 people of different sex and age took part in the project..
