Equipment in modern tattooing. Tattoo art.

The principle of tattooing is very ancient and simple. Once upon a time, a needle dipped in a dye was used to pierce the skin. Then the wound healed, and the paint remained in the upper layers of the epithelium..

The revolution in tattooing occurred with the invention in 1890 by the American Samuel O’Reilly of the electric tattoo machine, the use of which made it possible to draw a drawing more accurately and faster, as well as to make punctures of the same depth..

Subsequently, O’Reilly’s invention was finalized by tattoo specialist Charlie Wagner..

Modern tattoo machines allow you to apply a drawing as accurately as possible. The needles in them are attached securely, and the skin is minimally injured, due to which the tattoo site heals quickly enough.

The main elements of a tattoo machine are a tube and needles.

A tuba is a metal tube with a length of 5 to 13 cm and a diameter of 8 mm, which consists of a handle-holder and a tip. It also contains holes for needles..

The word “needles”, which is used in everyday life, does not give a completely correct idea of this element of the tattoo machine. It is actually a bundle of thin metal rods pointed at the end, which can be round or flat. In the latter case, the needles are soldered horizontally in 1-2 rows..

The bundle can consist of 1, 3, 5, 7, 8, 14 needles, each of which must be sterile and stored in a vacuum package. Although there are disposable and reusable needles, the former is now preferred for safety reasons..

The needles can be with or without holes through which the dye enters. In the latter case, during work, they must be periodically dipped in paint..

For small and shallow tattoos, use a light machine with a disposable set of tools. Its movements are easy to regulate, the dye is injected evenly under the skin, the lines are clear and even. For volumetric tattoos or large-sized images, heavier devices are used. Additional sets of products are used several times, and after each use they must be sterilized.

There are two main ways to get a tattoo. The clipper can be held with a pressure, close to the skin, so that the needle comes out at a short distance. Or with a gap, then the tattoo is pricked only with the tip of the needle, however, in this case, the master can visually control the depth of penetration of the needle.

There are two types of tattoo machines: rotary and induction. A real professional should have both devices in his arsenal and use one or another type depending on the characteristics of the drawing. So, rotary machines are ideal for performing delicate work. The speed of their work can be controlled, and this is a big plus, since different areas of the skin require different strength and depth of piercing. The movement of the needle must be strictly vertical, otherwise the skin can be seriously injured. Russian tattooists prefer rotary machines.

Induction machines operate at a tremendous speed – up to several thousand punctures per minute.

The frequency of movement and force of impact of the needle of the induction machine is more stable than that of the rotary machine, so the tattooing procedure becomes almost painless.
